BYU-Hawaii Concert Choir: Related Facts & Story Ideas | 杨百翰大学夏威夷分校合唱团: 相关题材与故事

       64名合唱团成员分别来自13个不同的国家,包括: 美国,中国,泰国,马来西亚,蒙古,日本,韩国,菲律宾,萨摩亚,汤加,新西兰.

       其中两名来自中国的成员分别是:孙宁(Frank)来自上海,刘洁明来自香港.

       其中四名来自蒙古的成员是: Dashdavaa Bayarma, Enkhbaatar Narangarvuu, Purevsuren Enkhtugs和Purevsuren Erdenebileg.

       对于其中十六名成员而言,英语是他们的第二语言.

       其中三十四名,即一半以上的成员,最少可以熟练掌握两种语言,包括法语,塔加路语,乌克兰语,泰语,中文普通话,中文广东话,俄语,蒙古语,日语,萨摩亚语,西班牙语,汤加语,手语,兵邦果语,马来语,葡萄牙语,夏威夷土语,韩语,英语.

Brass and Salsa Ensembles Delight Audience

Sounds of brass and salsa music filled the McKay Auditorium, Friday evening, 30 March 2007, as the University Brass Quintet and the BYU-Hawaii Salsa Orchestra gave stellar performances to an appreciative audience.

The University Brass Quintet, directed by David Kammerer, began the evening with “Fanfare of Jubilation,” an original composition by BYU-Hawaii music student Timothy Johnson.  The rest of the program featured, some folktunes, works of Handel and Gabrieli, as well as an arrangement of the hymn tune “God of Our Fathers,” written by Kammerer.

The Lord is Trying to Bless You: Don't Get in the Way

Using stories, and toys as visual aids, Elder Eric G. Stephan, a Service Missionary in the Religion Department, spoke 22 March 2007, at the weekly BYU-Hawaii university devotional.  

As a young missionary in Samoa, Elder Stephan overheard a conversation between another missionary and LeGrand Richards.  The elder was frustrated and angry at the treatment he and his companion had received at the hands of some villagers.  He wanted to shake the dust off his feet and curse the village.  

Elder Richards responded saying, “Elder, the Spirit of the Lord has been working with these people for years and years; after you leave he will continue to work with these people for years and years.  Don’t mess up the work of the Spirit of the Lord for the short time you are here.”

Saturday, 24 March, at 7:30 in the McKay Auditorium on the BYU-Hawaii campus all of these elements will be brought together in the premiere of “Delights and Shadows,” a work written for voice, violin and piano

Marcus Martins Named New Chair of L2 Committee

Marcus Martins, current chair of the Department of Religious Education at BYU-Hawaii has been named as the new chairman of the campus L2 Committee.  According to Keith Roberts (watch video) , Vice President of Academics, this committee, composed of a cross-section of faculty members and staff is critical.
