Brooke Peterson Appointed as Marketing and Communications Director

Brigham Young University–Hawaii Advancement Vice President Laura Tevaga announced the appointment of Brooke Peterson as the new marketing and communications director. Peterson will oversee the university's marketing strategies, communications, and branding initiatives, as well as the Marketing and Communications department. Peterson will begin in this new position on November 18.

"Her success in leading high-performing teams, coupled with her previous experience in the Church Educational System, make her the ideal person to lead our marketing and communications efforts. We look forward to the innovative thinking and expertise she will bring to our university."

Peterson currently serves as the director of marketing at BYU-Pathway Worldwide, where she has spearheaded campaigns that significantly boosted brand visibility and increased enrollment. Previously, she held various roles at BYU-Pathway in digital marketing, enrollment, and communication, fostering relationships with global teams and coordinating communication strategies. She also led global communication strategies for several business units at American Airlines, focusing on recognition, community relations, leadership, high-profile events, and hundreds of earned media placements.

“I have long admired BYU–Hawaii. The mission and vision of BYU–Hawaii is prophetic and uniquely positioned to serve the people of Oceania and the Asian Rim,” said Peterson. “The students I have met from these areas are intelligent, resourceful, and full of faith. I am excited to champion their stories in my new role.”

Peterson holds a Bachelor of Science in communication from Brigham Young University–Idaho and is pursuing a Master of Business Administration at Brigham Young University's Marriott School of Business, with an anticipated graduation in the spring of 2025. Peterson received the Newel K. Whitney Distinguished Graduate Award from BYU-Idaho.

She and her husband, Marc, met in a Tempe, Arizona singles ward. They enjoy traveling (Peterson has been to all 50 U.S. states and five continents), spending time outside, and running around with their Airedale Terrier, Archie.

Born in Sacramento, California, and raised in Carmel, Indiana, Peterson is the youngest of six children. She has served in multiple callings in the Church, including Primary, Young Women’s, and Relief Society presidencies, as well as stake seminary teacher and cub scout leader. In her free time, Peterson enjoys puzzles, board games, and playing sports, especially volleyball and tennis.
