“Charles Bradshaw is a stellar teacher, an accomplished academic, and a friendly colleague,” said Walker. “He will be an excellent leader in the Faculty of Arts & Letters and a valuable addition to our Deans Council.”

Bradshaw has been a professor in the Faculty of Arts & Letters at BYU–Hawaii since 2019. Bradshaw came to BYU–Hawaii from the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he was an associate professor in the Department of English and Modern Foreign Languages. He has taught English for 28 years in various positions, beginning with graduate teaching assistant to teaching fellow at several institutions, including the University of Missouri, Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, Brigham Young University, and Moberly Area Community College in Moberly, Missouri.

Bradshaw has a doctorate in English and rhetoric from the University of Missouri. His studies were primarily on early American literature. He also earned a master's and bachelor's in English from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Bradshaw has been awarded the Alpha Omicron Pi Teacher of the Month and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi. He is also a member of the Western Literature Association, Society of Early Americanists, Transatlantic Studies Association, and the South Central Modern Language Association.

Bradshaw will assume the position of dean on August 16. He is replacing Patricia Patrick, who has been the dean since 2021 and will continue as an associate professor in the Faculty of Arts & Letters.

Bradshaw served a mission in the England Bristol Mission. He enjoys hiking and playing soccer. He is married to Jennifer Hucks Bradshaw, and together, they have three children and one grandson. One of their children, Mac, is a proud BYU–Hawaii alum.
