Student Life Vice President Jonathan Kala Kau announced the promotion of Maurice Mo’o as the new strategic enrollment senior manager. In this role, Mo’o will report directly to the student life vice president and oversee the Strategic Enrollment department. This new department is responsible for ensuring that recruitment and admissions efforts align with achieving the university’s mission. The Admissions department will be a sub-department of Strategic Enrollment.
“Maurice is aligned with the university mission and our priority to reach, attract, and support qualified students in achieving our enrollment strategy,” said Kau. “He is also well qualified to ensure a positive experience for prospective students through the application and admission process.”
Most recently, Mo’o served as admissions manager at BYU–Hawaii and has led the Admissions department for seven years in developing and implementing the admissions application and decision processing system. Prior to his time at BYU–Hawaii, he worked as a private wealth advisor for First Hawaiian Bank and a financial advisor for Merill Lynch.
“I am excited to lead the new Strategic Enrollment department and am committed to making an immediate and meaningful impact,” said Mo’o. “I look forward to collaborating with cross-functional teams to serve more students who are best aligned with the university’s mission.”
Mo’o has a Master of Arts in higher education administration from the University of Alabama and a Bachelor of Arts in international relations from Brigham Young University.
Born and raised in Laie, Hawaii, Mo'o has deep ties to the community. He served as a missionary in the Japan Tokyo South Mission, a bishop for the Laie Park YSA Ward, and as the first counselor in the Laie Hawaii Married Student Stake presidency. He enjoys surfing, golfing, and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Mama’o Haunga, are the parents of five children.
Mo’o assumed his new role on December 2, 2024.
