Nominees for the award must be under 40 and are "recognized industry leaders with a consistent take-charge attitude who show a high degree of business acumen and sharp business-like approaches to efficiency and change." They are also committed to their community and demonstrate respect for their colleagues.

Richie Norton, friend and financial advisor of Evans said, "He is selfless and actively fulfilling his vision to serve and improve the community, create jobs and increase the quality of life in Hawaii. He is a forward-thinking young leader and is fulfilling the hopes and promises we've all wanted in young leaders."
