BYU Hawaii alumnus David Ing presented a motivational lecture at the weekly Entrepreneurship Lecture Series on Thursday, September 11, 2008. Ing focused on the entrepreneurial prospects and skills by sharing his own personal experiences and insight on what it takes to prove successful not only in business, but also in life.

When they weren’t juggling homework, part-time jobs, church activities, and social lives, five BYU-Hawaii students devoted significant efforts recently to participate in the Polynesian Cultural Center’s 16th annual World Fireknife Championships.

From social networks that tout more members than there are people in many countries to iPods™ with greater storage capacity than many desktop hard drives, cyberspace has redefined the global world. High-tech, ultra-sleek cell phones send more text messages daily than there are people in the world, while a mass of blogs brushing every subject known to mankind dominate what Elder M. Russell Ballard declared at the December 2007 BYU-Hawaii Commencement as, “A whole different world.” In an era of fast-paced innovation of technology and thought, the Internet emerges as a vital lifeline that connects culture, commerce, and countries like never before.

Dr. Neil Freeman, Professor Emeritus, researcher, and literary connoisseur visiting from The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, offered BYU-Hawaii students attending a recent Honors Colloquium an insightful, helpful, and witty exploration of one of English literature's most prominent contributors: William Shakespeare. In the process, he enlightened the BYUH students with a uniquely creative and new perspective on the life and work of the Great Bard.

The BYU-Hawaii Honors Program, under the direction of Dr. Randall Allred, offered hundreds of students a wealth of educational opportunity and adventure during the Fall 2007 and Winter 2008 semesters.
