BYU–Hawaii Hosts NCAA Division II West Regional

Fifth-ranked BYU–Hawaii women’s volleyball will play host to seven other contenders in the West Regional of the 2012 NCAA Division II National Tournament. The host location and teams were announced Sunday, November 18, on the NCAA Selection Show. The tournament matches will take place in BYU–Hawaii’s 4,500-seat Cannon Activities Center on the Laie, Hawaii, campus on November 29-December 1.

 The Seasiders, 21-3 for the season and Pacific West Conference champions with a perfect 16-0 conference record, will face the number eight seed, UC San Diego (20-10), in the opening round on Thursday, November 29.

Fellow PacWest member Grand Canyon (23-5) received the number two seed and square off against seventh-seeded San Francisco State (21-8), in the first round.  Third seed Cal State-San Bernardino (22-8) will meet Central Washington (21-7) in another first round matchup, and number four seed Western Washington (23-3) will take on fifth-seeded Sonoma State (22-8) in the other match of the opening round.  Times for the tournament games will be determined and released later at http://sports.byuh.edu.

Winners of the November 29 first round matches will play on Friday in the semifinals and the semifinal winners will meet on Saturday for the West Regional title and the right to advance to the Elite Eight in Pensacola, Florida, December 6-8.
