At 7 PM and 9:30 PM on Saturday, January 30, 40 BYU-Hawaii students will come together with Abuliz Dance International to put on a dance concert, “Dancing Through Life.”
The student performers are from the EXS program’s Modern Dance, Hip Hop, and Dance Production courses. Representing BYU-Hawaii’s diversity well, students come from countries around the world, including Australia, China, Taiwan, the Philippines, New Zealand, and the US. Modern dances will be performed against a backdrop of multi-cultural music, including Uyghur folk songs.
Nina Foster, director of the production and of Abuliz Dance International, is a world-renowned dancer from the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in western China. A graduate of BYU-Hawaii, she has been teaching dance on campus for 16 years. This is the seventh dance concert she has directed.
Tickets are on sale at the Aloha Center front desk.
