First Buildings of Campus Expansion Complete

The newly constructed Temple View Apartments (TVA) have reached completion. These two new buildings will offer 24 additional apartments for married BYU–Hawaii students. The TVA buildings are part of a series of projects included in phase one of construction. Today, Wednesday, June 5, BYU–Hawaii will be holding an open house to tour the newly constructed three story married student house buildings from 3-6 PM.

In addition, four new single student housing buildings will be completed late August. Three of the four buildings under construction will serve as a replacement to the current student dorms, which have been in use for over 50 years. The fourth student housing building will offer apartment-style living conditions, including a kitchen. An open house will be held for the single housing buildings on August 23.

The largest building of phase one, the multi-use Heber J. Grant Building, will open early September. The 41,000 square foot building will house one of the on-campus stakes, provide classroom space for faculty and students, and be home to the Business Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Accounting departments. An open house for the building will take place September 6, from 1-6 PM. Following the open house, the building will be dedicated by Elder Nelson on September 8 at 3:30 PM. Tickets will be provided and the dedication will be broadcast to the Cannon Activities Center.
