The university is pleased to announce that the groundbreaking for the new multi-use building and new student housing facilities will be held Saturday, December 17, 2011, at 1:30 PM, following the Fall 2011 Commencement exercises held that morning. Elder Jeffery R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside at the groundbreaking. All are invited to attend and will have the opportunity to break the ground and take a photo following the main program.
The new multi-use building will house the business management/hospitality and tourism management and accounting departments, and will serve as home to one of the on-campus student stakes. Architectural renderings and drawings of this building are on display in the Aloha Center in the case next to the TV. The groundbreaking event will take place on the building site for the multi-use building (south of the campus stake center on the big circle) with guest parking in the McKay Circle and in the lot adjacent to the Lorenzo Snow Administration Building.
While some preparatory work has already begun on locations for the multi-use building and student housing facilities, the December 17 groundbreaking will mark the official construction phase of the new buildings. Regular updates, including service and traffic interruptions, will be provided through campus email bulletins and other channels.
