Richard N. Holzapfel, Ph.D., author of numerous books and articles on Latter-day Saint Church history, doctrine and scripture, will present the BYU-Hawaii Department of Religious Education's thirteenth annual Joseph Smith Lecture Series this week, including:

- Thursday, November 9, 10 a.m.: Joseph Smith and the Power of Forgiveness; Cannon Activities Center
- Friday, November 10, 2:30 p.m.: The Prophet Joseph Smith and the Succession in Presidency: Wilford Woodruff's Testimony; Aloha Center 155/165
- Friday, November 10, 7:30 p.m.: The “Good News” is Still the Good News: The New Testament Witness of Jesus Christ; the Honolulu Tabernacle (1560 S. Beretania St.)
Dr. Holzapfel, an associate professor of Church History and Doctrine at BYU in Provo, received his Ph.D. from the University of California-Irvine with an emphasis on Middle Eastern Studies, Jewish history, ancient history, American history and nineteenth century American religious history.
He has been teaching at BYU since 1993, including a year at the BYU Jerusalem Center from 1997-98. He is currently the editor in chief of the Religious Educator, published by the BYU Religious Studies Center.
