President John S.K. Kauwe III, following approval from the BYU–Hawaii Board of Trustees, has appointed Laura Tevaga as Assistant to the President for University Communications.
In this new position, Tevaga will continue as a member of BYU–Hawaii’s President’s Council, the highest governing council of the university. Her focus will be to develop and execute strategic communications to support and advance the goals and priorities of BYU–Hawaii.
“Laura is a strong leader and provides insightful perspectives that continue to shape the future of BYU–Hawaii,” President Kauwe said. “This change formally recognizes her important role in our ongoing efforts to serve our students.”
Tevaga’s appointment is effective September 16, 2020. She is currently the Director of Communication & Marketing at BYU–Hawaii and oversees the Campus News Center, Media Production Center, Event Services & Outreach, branding, campus website, as well as all communication and marketing across the institution. She will continue to lead these areas in her new assignment.
Tevaga received her bachelor’s degree in communications from BYU and an Executive MBA from BYU’s Marriott School of Management. She has been Director of Communication & Marketing at BYUH since October 2016 and was Director of Development and Station Management at BYU Broadcasting prior to that time.
