BYU–Hawaii Announces Online Commencement for Spring 2020 Graduates

Brigham Young University–Hawaii will live stream an online commencement presentation to celebrate and recognize candidates for graduation following the Spring 2020 Semester. Brother Mark L. Pace, Sunday School General President for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be the commencement speaker for the online presentation on June 27 at 9:30 am HST. The event will available at https://byuh.edu/live-stream as well as on the BYU–Hawaii YouTube channel and Facebook page.

The event will also feature remarks from President John S. Tanner and a slide presentation of each graduate. Graduates who wish to be featured with a photo in the presentation are encouraged to submit a photo of choice online by June 12.

Brother Pace was serving as an Area Seventy and a member of the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was called as Sunday School General President in April 2019.

Brother Pace earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Utah in 1980 and masters of business administration from Harvard Business School 1982. Prior to his call, he worked in commercial real estate development.

Brother Pace has served in many Church callings, including elders quorum president, Scoutmaster, bishopric counselor, ward Young Men president, high councilor, bishop, and counselor in a stake presidency. As a young man he served as a full-time missionary in the Spain Madrid Mission. From 2012 to 2015 he served as president of the Spain Barcelona Mission.

Brother Pace was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on January 1, 1957. He married Anne Marie Langeland in 1978. They are the parents of seven children and 19 grandchildren.

Though we wish we could enjoy our traditional ceremony with reverence and approbation as well as lei, music, and celebration, the university ohana sends its love and aloha.
