Seasider Tennis Teams Receive Recognition from State Governor

The BYU-Hawaii men's and women's tennis teams were honored by Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle last week Friday, in a brief ceremony at the Governor's office in the State Capitol Building. Both Seasider teams won the NCAA II national championship in May for the second consecutive year.

In honoring the teams, Governor Lingle commended them for winning and for representing the State of Hawaii in an excellent manner. Each player on both teams was given an individual letter of commendation and BYU-Hawaii Head Coach Dave Porter was likewise honored.

BYU-Hawaii is the first school in Division II to ever win titles in both men's and women's tennis in the same year. The Seasiders are also only the second school to ever win back-to-back titles in both sports, following Division I Stanford.
