Brigham Young University–Hawaii is pleased to welcome Dr. Lorie Davis as the new associate professor in the Faculty of Education & Social Work, beginning in the Fall 2024 Semester. With a passion for integrating gospel principles into learning, Dr. Davis is poised to make a significant impact on both students and the academic community at BYU–Hawaii.
Born and raised in Clayton, California, Dr. Davis's journey in education began at Ricks College, where she earned her bachelor's degree in education. She later pursued a Master of Public Administration (MPA) at Brigham Young University and obtained a doctorate in instructional technology from Idaho State University. Her academic focus encompasses literacy, e-learning, assessment, and making meaningful connections between gospel teachings and education, all of which she aims to bring into her role at BYU–Hawaii.
Dr. Davis and her husband, Craig, are the proud parents of six children. Her family plays a pivotal role in her life, providing both inspiration and support throughout her career. This strong foundation, combined with her professional expertise, is sure to enrich the BYU–Hawaii community.
With extensive experience that spans 31 years in education, Dr. Davis’s work ranges from public and private school settings to state-level administrative positions. This impressive career includes 18 years of teaching at BYU–Idaho, where she developed a strong reputation for her innovative approach to education and her dedication to fostering student success.
Commenting on her arrival at BYU–Hawaii, Dr. Davis shared, “I look forward to working with diverse students to help them learn to change lives as they follow the Master Teacher.”
