Seth Lee Spotlight

Seth Sang Cheol Lee sends his greetings from Korea. He graduated from BYU–Hawaii in June 2009 with a double major in International Business Management and Accounting, and has recently accepted an offer at LG Electronics Corporation, one of the largest companies in Korea.

Seth and his wife Mi Jeong Kim live in Chang Won near Pusan. They attend the Chum-Dan ward in the Gwang Ju Stake where Seth is serving as the Assistant Ward Clerk. He indicated that Korea has just recently incorporated the Church's MLS reporting system. Seth's experience in church callings at BYU–Hawaii learning and operating MLS now has put him in an excellent position to teach others in Korea.

Seth will start working at LG Electronics in January. LG is the world's second-largest manufacturer of televisions, and third-largest producer of mobile phones. Getting a position in a large Korean company is a long and challenging process that requires a lot of research and often a series of interviews. Seth's interview process had four separate interviews and took three months to complete, not uncommon for a large Korean company.

Interestingly, some of the questions in the interviews gave Seth the opportunity to share his testimony and dedication to the teachings of the Gospel. He was asked, "If you have to, would you drink alcohol?" and "Would you work on Sunday instead of attending church?" The process also included a presentation interview that lasted several hours, and an examination of financial problems.

Seth said, "It was not easy, but I can say that I have been well trained and prepared by the education system at BYU–Hawaii." He indicated that another BYU–Hawaii graduate, JaeHak June who majored in Information Technology, will be working at DooSan Corporation in Korea "We see many blessings and miracles in Korea."

With Seth's return to Korea following graduation, he and Mi Jeong Kim have also been able to help missionaries meet investigators and now other members of his family are getting involved with the Church. Seth said, "Now, we can understand a little more about why many Church leaders ask us to come back to our countries."
