Dr. Glade Tew was approved as the new Dean of the College of Business, Computing and Government by the Board of the Church Education System, Wednesday, May 13. The announcement regarding Tew's appointment was made on Thursday, May 14, first to the faculty and staff of the College, and then to the University Ohana through a special bulletin email. Tew will begin his service the second week of June. Read Full Story

"You have so many things before you. You have so many things to do and [that] must be done…. I believe what will help you is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven," taught Jonathan Serrao, President of the Honolulu Hawaii West Stake, at his devotional address on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at the BYU–Hawaii Cannon Activities Center. "Through your faith and works and [the Lord and Heavenly Father's] help you will be able to succeed and accomplish all things that you must accomplish," said Serrao. The students of BYU–Hawaii's Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team brought the Spirit of Aloha to the City of Brotherly Love for this year's SIFE National Exposition, and walked away with a top 12 finish and a check for $1,500. Read Full Story

During most of the year, the Iosepa canoe is housed inside the Polynesian Cultural Center, next to the Hawaiian village. But every spring term the Iosepa is towed over to Hukilau Beach Park and launched into Laie Bay, with a crew of BYU–Hawaii students aboard. This year the launching took place Tuesday, May 5.
