Memorial Unveiled at Laie Hawaii Temple Paying Tribute to Kaleohano

On Saturday, October 21, 2023, descendants of Kaleohano gathered to dedicate a special memorial to Kaleohano and recognize his life of leadership and faith in Jesus Christ. BYU–Hawaii to Generate 100% of Power from Solar

Brigham Young University–Hawaii will expand its solar energy collection and storage with a second phase of its renewable energy system project. After completion, BYU–Hawaii will have more than enough energy collection to serve the entire university's needs. The renewable system will also be able to provide electricity to its neighboring sister institutions, the Polynesian Cultural Center and the Laie Hawaii Temple. Read Full Story

Kiribati students from Brigham Young University–Hawaii recently visited Christmas Island for the purpose of establishing a “regenerative tourism” program, as the country’s national government plans to reshape Christmas Island into a tourist attraction. With a firm mission in mind to educate Kiribati residents and government officials, four Kiribati students who are majoring in hospitality and tourism management (HTM) and their adviser ventured out to their homeland to improve not only the nation’s tourism industry but the lives of locals as well. Meet Benjamin Candari, principal and co-founder of FSC Architects and BYU–Hawaii alumnus. Candari's life journey has been linked with BYUH since his enrollment as a student in 1990. Following his graduation, he embarked on a career in architecture, achieving significant milestones that eventually led him back to this unique campus. Looking back on his career, the Lord had prepared Candari for a meaningful role in re-designing the McKay Complex, thus continuing his BYUH legacy. Read Full Story
