The top-ranked BYU-Hawaii women's tennis team has been selected to host one of the NCAA II West Regional Tournaments and will face Cal Poly Pomona in the first round on Thursday, May 6th at 11:30 am at the BYU-Hawaii courts. Cal State-L.A. will face Hawaii Pacific in the opening match of the tournament at 9:00 am that morning.
The top-ranked BYU-Hawaii women's tennis team swept the Pacific West Conference honors released today. The Seasider women claimed all six spots on the All-Conference First Team for singles and all three doubles spots as voted by the conference coaches. Additionally, junior Adrienn Hegedus was named PacWest Player of the Year for the third consecutive year and BYU-Hawaii Head Coach Dave Porter was honored as PacWest Coach of the Year.
In a surprise development today, the 12th-ranked BYU-Hawaii men's tennis team learned that they will not be playing in a regional tournament next week but will instead bypass the regional competition and go directly to the NCAA II National Championships to be held in Altamonte Springs, Florida, near Orlando, from May 12-15. The unusual move came about as a result of top-ranked Hawaii Pacific forfeiting the Pacific West Conference championship as a result of having used an ineligible player or players.
