Chrisman Named to Daktronics All-American Team

BYU-Hawaii junior forward Jake Chrisman earned Daktronics NCAA II Third Team All-American honors today as voted on by the nation's College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Chrisman was one of only three juniors among the 15 players honored with All-American status by CoSIDA and Daktronics. Earlier this month Chrisman was honored by the group as an All-West Region First Team performer.

Chrisman, a junior from Provo, Utah, became just the fourth player in BYU-Hawaii history to average over 20 points per game as he led the PacWest Conference and was eighth nationally with a 23.3 points per game average during the season and playoffs.

Chrisman connected on 57.8 percent of his shots, good for second in the PacWest and 24th nationally. He grabbed 5.7 rebounds per game and was named PacWest Player of the Week five times. He scored a season-high 42 points at Montana State-Billings in February, the third highest point total in Seasider history. He was also named to the Hawaii Surf 'N Slam All-Tournament team.

The Daktronics All-America First Team consists of National Player of the Year Nick Branting of Nebraska-Kearney, Ron Christy of Teikyo Post, and Elad Inbar of Massachusetts-Lowell, all seniors, plus juniors Josh Buettner of Michigan Tech and Lewis Muse of Concord.

The second team is comprised of Chris Mortellaro of Drury, Mike Taylor of West Virginia State, Tim Burnette of Tarleton State, Anthony Greenup of Shaw, and Kelvin Parker of Northwest Missouri State. All of the players on the second team are seniors.

Joining Chrisman on the third team are Fred Hooks of Humboldt State, Omari Pearson of Mansfield, Darnell Hinson of Northeastern State, and Desmond Peoples of St. Augustine's. All but Chrisman are seniors and Hooks is the only other player from the West Region to be named to any of the teams. The West Region is the smallest of the eight regions in terms of number of voters within the region.
