Elder Mark Eubank Spoke at BYU-Hawaii Devotional

On Tuesday, September 1, Elder Mark Eubank addressed a much different crowd from the news cameras that he pitched the weather to for over forty years—he spoke at BYU–Hawaii's upcoming weekly devotional to student, faculty and staff; his talk was titled "How to Find God."

Now retired, Elder Eubank and his wife are serving an LDS Church mission at the Laie Hawaii Temple Visitors' Center.

Those who have lived in Utah long enough to turn to the news on KUTV channel 2, and later KSL-TV channel 5, remember his charismatic forecasting.

Elder Eubank's career began in 1965. Previously, he had dropped out of UCLA's meteorology program and began working as a surveyor in his native California. But weather broadcasting lured him after he watched a forecast that did not meet his standards. "I can do better than that," he said. When his wife challenged, "Why don't you try?" Elder Eubank subsequently found his niche.

Retirement in 2006 ended his television career but did not change his enthusiasm or interest in rain or shine.

As missionaries, Elder & Sister Eubank now share the gospel with visitors to the Laie Hawaii Temple Visitors' Center. "I love it!" he exclaimed. "It is such a beautiful and inviting place. The people are so friendly and giving." But the best part about serving here is the ability to fulfill his church calling with his wife.
