Former BYU-Hawaii President, Stephen L. Brower, Passed Away

Stephen L. Brower, who was president of the Church College of Hawaii from 1971-74, passed away in Logan, Utah, on December 22, 2004.

Prior to succeeding Owen J. Cook as the fourth and final president of Church College, Brower had served as a mission president in Colombia, Venezuela. He had also taught at Utah State University and BYU.

During President Brower's tenure at CCH the Aloha Center was completed. He also oversaw a significant redefinition of the university's objectives and curricula, leading up to being reorganized as Brigham Young University Hawaii just before he left.

After leaving Laie, President Brower returned to BYU where he was a sociology professor. His wife, Vivian, passed away four years ago.
