Throughout 2015, the community of Laie, led by the Laie Community Association, along with BYU–Hawaii and the Polynesian Cultural Center, are marking the Sesquicentennial of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Laie as well as the 60th Anniversary since the groundbreaking of BYU–Hawaii, then called the Church College of Hawaii.

BYU–Hawaii bids farewell to its ninth President and First Lady, President Steven C. Wheelwright and Margaret Wheelwright, who reflect on their time leading the University ohana.

Leilani Auna has been appointed as the director of the department of Counseling Services and Special Needs at Brigham Young University–Hawaii.

Two Apostles, the Relief Society General President, and two members of the Seventy spoke at the May 12 Devotional as part of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees’ on-site visit to the Laie, Hawaii, campus. Students, faculty, staff, and members of the community gathered in the CAC to hear their message.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced today that President and Sister Wheelwright have been called by the First Presidency to serve as temple president and matron of the Boston Massachusetts Temple. They will return to Belmont, where they raised their three youngest children, to begin their service later this year.

LAIE, HAWAII – John Sears Tanner, currently serving as the first counselor in the Sunday School general presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will become the next president of BYU–Hawaii.

Brigham Young University–Hawaii's Service Association (BYUHSA) has welcomed new leaders to their team for 2015.

ST. LOUIS, April 17, 2015 - $10,000 in prize money goes to the student team from Brigham Young University-Hawaii that was named the 2015 Enactus United States National Champion Thursday night at the Enactus United States National Expo at America's Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

Last week, language and writing tutors from Brigham Young University–Hawaii’s Reading/Writing Center and the EIL Tutor Program participated in a ceremony awarding them International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC) certificates from the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). This is the first time BYU–Hawaii EIL tutors have earned ITTPC certification; Reading/Writing Center tutors have been earning this certification since 1996. The ITTPC program run by the CRLA certifies postsecondary educational institutional tutoring programs which enables these programs to offer the credential to their qualifying tutors.

Laie, Hawaii - Bishop Gary E. Stevenson, presiding bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will address Brigham Young University–Hawaii’s 359 graduates and their families at this Winter’s commencement ceremony held on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 9:30 AM in the Cannon Activities Center.

On Thursday, March 18, regular classes were not held as BYU–Hawaii had its tenth annual Undergraduate Research Conference, sponsored by the College of Math and Sciences and the College of Language, Culture, and Arts. This conference gives students the opportunity to research and report on topics they find interesting in their fields and significant enough for further study and understanding. This conference, along with the Empower Your Dreams competition, involved hundreds of students across all areas of campus.

Brigham Young University–Hawaii is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. John David Bell as Vice President of Academics, replacing Dr. Max L. Checketts. The appointment was approved by the Board of Trustees following a widespread search to identify the most qualified candidate to best support the academic and operational needs and opportunities of BYU–Hawaii. His areas of responsibility will include the four academic colleges, the three associate academic vice presidents and the Academic Council, the library, Alumni and Career Services, admissions, and financial aid.

The Brigham Young University–Hawaii Alumni & Career Services department organizes semi-annual Career Fairs in Winter and Fall semesters, in coordination with the Hawaii Career Week, which involves five other Hawaii university campuses, including University of Hawaii–Manoa. Winter 2015 semester’s Career Fair was held on March 6, in the Aloha Center Ballroom.
