Dr. David Porter Named ITA NCAA II 'National Coach of the Year'

BYU-Hawaii women's tennis team head coach Dr. David Porter was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's NCAA II national "coach of the year" following the Lady Seasiders' second-place finish in the national championship competition. Coach Porter's latest honor marks the fifth time he has been national coach of the year in either the NAIA or the NCAA II.

History Major Brings Home Top Prize at Regional Conference

Six BYU-Hawaii students recently presented papers at the Phi Alpha Theta Regional History Conference held at UH-Manoa on February 12. One of the students, Lindsay Yamauchi Leeworthy, brought home joint-honors for the best undergraduate paper, entitled "Behind Tomb Walls: The Ancient Egyptian Rise to Modernity."

Brigham Young University Hawaii's Chelsea Smith successfully defended her NCAA II National Individual Women's Cross Country Championship, finishing her BYU–Hawaii career with back-to-back national championships and becoming the fifth woman in NCAA II history to win two cross country individual titles.
