Brigham Young University–Hawaii Administrative Vice President Steve Tueller has named Mark Fitzgerald as the new chief compliance officer in the Office of Compliance & Ethics. In this position, Fitzgerald will manage and oversee programs and activities for establishing standards and implementing procedures to help leaders and managers ensure the university’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Brigham Young University–Hawaii is excited to introduce two faculty members to the BYUH ohana for the Fall 2023 Semester. Brian Stone and Paula Nonu are the new professors set to teach courses in the construction and facilities management minor. The minor currently falls under the Faculty of Math & Computing and is overseen by Dean Aaron Curtis. Anticipating the number of students enrolled in the minor to increase, the board has already approved the request to expand it into a new major, with Dr. Stone and Dr. Nonu assisting in its development.

Brigham Young University–Hawaii Academic Vice President Isaiah Walker announced two leadership changes in Academics earlier this semester: Dr. Jared Marcum as the interim director of the Edward D. Smith Center for Learning & Teaching and Dr. Eric Rackley as an associate director of the Center for Learning & teaching. Both appointments are effective at the start of the Fall 2023 Semester on August 30.

Weekly campus devotionals focus on spiritual learning by fostering greater faith and discipleship in Jesus Christ.

Brigham Young University–Hawaii will implement a 3% tuition increase for the 2023-2024 academic year for the fall and winter semesters Fall 2023 Semester. There will be a 2.9% increase fir the Spring 2024 semester. This is an increase of $95 on the per semester rate going from $3,125 to $3,219.

On February 14, 2023, University Presidents John S.K. Kauwe III and Arnulfo D. Mascarinas signed a momentous agreement to launch a joint initiative between Brigham Young University–Hawaii (BYUH) and Bicol University (BU).

Brigham Young University–Hawaii Academic Vice President Isaiah Walker announced the appointment of Dr. Aaron Curtis as the dean of the Faculty of Math & Computing.

With phase one of the Temple View Apartments (TVA) complete, phase two is now in effect. This phase includes the demolishing of TVA Buildings A, B, N, and P, along with the Multi-Purpose Building, which was located amongst the married-student housing. These buildings were built in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Demolition includes the selective interior demo, building destruction, and grading. Construction hours are between 7 am-4 pm, Monday through Friday. Students living nearby will continue to be notified of specialized construction activities outside those hours.

Dr. David Bybee, director of the Brigham Young University–Hawaii Kumuwaiwai Center for Sustainability, has named Emerson Kīhei Nahale-a as the new sustainability and education program manager for the Kumuwaiwai Center for Sustainability.

Dr. Nathaniel M. Stephens, dean of the Brigham Young University–Hawaii Faculty of Business & Government, has named Elder Jacob Walker as the new director of the Mark and Laura Willes Center for International Entrepreneurship.

Brigham Young University–Hawaii Operations Vice President Kevin Schlag has named Arlene Sewell as the new Chief Information Officer. In this role, Sewell will lead all aspects of Information Technology, providing strategic direction to help the university accomplish its mission.

Brigham Young University–Hawaii and Duke Energy Sustainable Solutions completed the campus-wide renewable energy system. The system's annual electricity production is estimated to meet 39% of the university's energy needs, significantly reducing its carbon footprint and dependence on the grid.

Brigham Young University–Hawaii Academic Vice President Isaiah Walker announced two leadership changes in Academics this week: Dr. Alohalani Housman as the dean of the Faculty of Culture, Language, & Performing Arts and Dr. Benjamin R. Jordan as the dean of the Faculty of Sciences. Both appointments are effective August 28.
